Frequently Asked Questions About the Priima Learning Environment

The learning environment has a direct impact on the smoothness of onboarding, skills development, and training management. This page compiles answers to the most common questions organizations ask when considering the implementation of a learning environment or LMS system.

The answers are based on the use of the Priima LMS in Finnish organizations across various sectors, such as businesses, the public sector, and educational institutions.

Priima is a learning management system (LMS) that enables organizations to manage onboarding, employee training, skills development, and mandatory training all in one place.

Priima is ideal for organizations that want to manage onboarding, staff training, skills development, or other mandatory training programs all within a single system.

Priima is used by, for example:

  • companies
  • public sector organizations
  • educational institutions
  • training organizations
  • organizations that also train partners, customers, or subcontractors.

The Priima learning environment can also be used for:

  • training partners
  • training customers
  • onboarding subcontractors
  • student training

This makes it possible to offer comprehensive training programs to users outside the organization as well.

Many Priima customers make extensive use of the learning environment to develop the skills of various stakeholders.

Pricing for the Priima LMS is based on the number of active learners and the selected service level. Active learners are defined as users who log in to the service and complete learning content during the review period.

This makes the learning platform’s cost structure predictable and scalable for various organizations. Priima is used by both private companies and public sector organizations.

Active learner-based pricing means that the organization pays only for those users who have actually used the learning environment during the reporting period. A user is considered active when they log in to Priima and engage with learning content. It is worth noting here that even if a user is not active, they can still use the environment, for example, to browse the content of completed courses, provided that the courses are visible to them and their account is still active.

This model is particularly suitable for organizations where training takes place in stages, such as during onboarding or mandatory annual training sessions.

Yes. All traffic between the user and Priima is SSL-encrypted. The service operates behind firewalls, and connections are secured throughout the entire data transfer chain.

Data from the Priima learning environment is stored in Finnish data centers, and the service is isolated from office networks.

Saarni Cloud Oy, of which Saarni Learning is a part, has achieved the international ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification. The certification demonstrates that information security, risk management, and data processing are systematically managed in accordance with international standards. This is particularly important for organizations that use the learning environment for purposes such as compliance training, security training, or the management of mandatory certifications.

All data in the Priima learning environment is stored in data centers located in Finland. The service is isolated from office networks, and the production environment is protected by information security policies.

Data security and reliable data management are particularly crucial in organizations that handle employee competency data and training records.

Priima supports integrations with, among others:

  • HR systems
  • user management
  • authentication solutions
  • e-commerce solutions
  • data warehouses.

Priima already has several advanced integrations, and new integrations are implemented as separate technical projects based on the organization’s needs.

Through these integrations, the learning environment can be integrated into the organization’s broader HR systems ecosystem, enabling, for example, user information and training data to flow automatically between systems.

Priima supports the import and use of SCORM content as part of courses.

SCORM compatibility enables the use of ready-made e-learning content and the integration of external training materials into the learning environment.

SCORM content can be seamlessly embedded into Priima’s content page, ensuring that the learning experience remains consistent and user-friendly for the user. This works particularly well, for example, in micro-training and short learning modules.

The timeline for implementing Priima depends on the size of the organization, the number of users, and the required integrations. In the simplest cases, the learning environment can be implemented in a matter of weeks.

If integrations with, for example, HR systems, user management, or authentication are involved, the implementation usually takes longer.

Customer stories show that Priima can be quickly implemented even in large organizations. For example, A-Insinöörit implemented Priima, and the first training sessions were available in about three months.

Users can be added to Priima in several ways:

  • manually
  • through integration, for example from an HR system
  • via a self-service registration form.

Registration can be restricted to specific courses, training programs, or user groups.

Priima supports several login methods:

  • username and password
  • SSO login (e.g., Entra ID or ADFS).

Strong authentication is also available as an additional service.

Yes. Priima’s user interface, messages, and learning content can be provided in multiple languages.

Multilingual support is particularly important in organizations that train international staff, partners, or subcontractors.

Courses can be designated as mandatory for individual users or user groups. A validity period can also be set for course completion if the training must be repeated at specific intervals.

This is particularly useful in organizations where staff skills must be regularly maintained through training in areas such as safety, quality, or compliance.

Priima can send automatic reminders based on configured deadlines and settings.

Automatic reminders help ensure that training is completed on time and that the organization’s skills remain up to date.

Courses are built using Priima’s user-friendly content editor. Learning content can include, among other things:

  • text
  • images
  • videos
  • files
  • assignments and quizzes
  • interactive elements

Courses can also be copied and built using ready-made course templates.

Priima can also be used to offer training to users outside the organization. Courses can be made available to customers, partners, or other stakeholders, for example, and registration can be handled via forms.

Actual training sales typically take place through a separate online store or other payment system. Priimaa can be integrated with an online store, allowing user accounts and course access rights to be created automatically upon purchase.

Priima is used, for example, by training organizations and companies that offer online training to their customers.
